Travis Pastrana Jumps Past Evel Knievel in Record Books
Modern day dare-devil Travis Pastrana made three jumps that put him into the record books above the name of the legendary stunt performer Evel Knievel. Pastrana jumped 52 cars, 16 buses, and the iconic fountain out in front of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. He even wore the cape and the classic v-shaped red, white and blue outfit like Evel did. The whole event was captured on History channel.
Jump 1. Pastrana jumped two more cars than Evel did back in 1973.
Jump 2. Pastrana then jumped 16 buses which was two more than Evel jumped in 1975 and one more than Bubba Blackwell in 1999.
Jump 3. Pastrana made history again becoming the first person to successfully jump the Caesar’s Palace fountain on a bike similar to the one Knievel used 50 years ago. Evel nearly cleared it but his back tire hit the edge of the landing platform causing him to crash.
I can see it now. Pastrana is going to do a lot more jumps and set new records. Then, they'll make a documentary about him called, "Becoming Evel." All this motorcycle stunt jumping talk makes me want to pop in the movie Hot Rod.
